NEW BRITAIN — For many, holiday shopping can be stressful as people jam into stores and malls looking for the ideal gifts. Many times it seems impossible to find a suitable present for a loved one.

But it doesn’t have to be that way thanks to the Holiday Bee-zaar being held tonight at Louis P. Slade Middle School.

“It’s all in one place. You’ll see people. There will be food,” said Sue Truglio, president of the New Britain Federation of Teachers.

The New Britain Federation of Paraprofessionals Local No. 2407 and the Federation of Teachers Local No. 871 will be hosting their first Holiday Bee-zaar tonight from 5 to 9 p.m.

The shopping event will feature more than 30 vendors, including jewelry makers, Mary Kay beauty products and the Pampered Chef. There will also be more unique gifts offered by clubs from New Britain High School.

Both of the federations put together gift baskets that will be raffled off. The baskets have a wide variety of themes ranging from tea time to movie night to a teachers emergency kit.

There will also be door prizes that were donated by teachers and members of the community, such as gift cards.

Proceeds from the raffle and the money raised from selling tables to the vendors will be split between both federations for their scholarship funds.

Truglio is expecting to have a couple hundred people at the event. “It’s the first time doing it so we’ll hopefully grow even more,” she said.

Admission to the Bee-zaar is free. Slade Middle School is located at 183 Steele St.
