NEW BRITAN — It may still be November but it felt like Christmas in the Law Office of Anne C. Marshall on Wednesday afternoon with the unveiling of its annual Christmas tree.

For the last three years the law firm, located on Main Street, and Nancy Arnold Real Estate, in Farmington, work together to decorate an artificial Christmas tree that is then donated to the YWCA the following year for an annual auction.

“I like to support the (YWCA) and we put the tree up the first year and it was so well-received so we thought it’d be a good donation,” Marshall said.

This year’s tree, with the theme Winter Wonderland, took nine hours to decorate.

The tree has red ribbons down the sides and is adorned with snowmen, snowflakes and candy canes.

“We both think of a theme and then we just do it,” Arnold said. “We craft a lot of the ornaments and then we put them up.”

Marshall added, “It’s really a labor of love that goes into it.”

This year the tree up for auction is the one that was housed in the law office at Christmastime last year. The theme of that tree is Peace, and the tree features purple ribbons and globe ornaments.

Last year a beach-themed tree created by Marshall and Arnold went for $800 at the YWCA auction.

The 18th annual YWCA Dinner and Auction will be held Friday at Farmington Gardens in Farmington.
